Asking Questions

  1. Question Words:
  • Gịnị (What): Gịnị bụ ike ịbịa? (What is your name?)
  • Kedu (How): Kedu ihe mere ị ga-eji? (How will you do it?)
  • Nke (Which): Nke a bụ onye gburugburu? (Which one is the leader?)
  • Ebee (Where): Ebee ka ina-eme? (Where are you going?)
  • Ihea (When): Ihea bụ ndụ? (When is the festival?)
  1. Altered Word Order:
  • Adding “Ka” or “Si” at the beginning of a sentence: Ka anyị ghọta? (Shall we go?)
  • Using a rising intonation: I naghị adịghị mma? (You are not fine?)
  1. Verb-Noun Combination:
  • Verb-noun combinations can also be used to ask questions: Jide ihe ị chọrọ? (What did you choose?)
  • Noun-Verb combinations: Nwanne bụrụ na anyị eji? (Is it true that we won?)
